Leaders of movements, activists and others who strive for
social, economic, political, environmental change, as well as
justice for workers, women, all ‘races’*, and others meet
challenges. In order to succeed, we must welcome such
challenges as necessary opportunities for us to develop our
leadership – they are precisely what we need.

Leaders range from the warm-hearted, friendly staff at my
local supermarket serving at the checkouts and collecting
trolleys, who make a difference with their care of each other
and of customers; to the passionate, underpaid parents who
I’ve led to lead other parents; to the many brave activists
who work to bring about real political, social and
environmental change. Leaders are those people who who
bring change from within and those who bring it from
without - from the everyday differences to the revolutionary
ones – all play vital roles in making a more human world.

With what tools and underlying principles can we meet those
challenges in order to the bring about the most effective and
powerful change?
